A site-specific tile artwork for the offices of publishing house Natur&Kultur, 2024, in collaboration with Studio Stockholm Architects. The artwork is based on glazed Italian stoneware tiles. I have created a pattern, partly through the different colors of the tiles, and partly by painting and re-firing over a thousand of the tiles. The tile pattern resembles a bookshelf, where the tiles form book spines. The book as a symbol evokes associations with learning, history, knowledge, stories, poetry, memories, conversations, voices and culture. There are books you return to, books that can change you and remain in your mind and heart. A collection of treasures that grows year after year. The artwork is also paying homage to a tile decoration on the building's facade, created by Signe Persson-Melin and Anders Bruno Liljefors, and also refers to the pattern "Prisma" by Sven Markelius, the building's original architect, as well as to the tiles in the Stockholm subway and public spaces of the 1960s and 70s. Each wall has its own color scheme that harmonizes with the colors of the floor plan.
